Noisy Turbo

Has anyone got a turbo that sounds like a loud hairdryer. Have had my 2.4 truck for two years and its always been turbo noisy, its works okay but since I have not driven another surf, wondered if this is fairly normal.
Any feedback appreciated.

Mine whistles, but from what I read here they all seem to whistle to some extent.

My truck generally sounds like a loud hairdryer. Not quite as much power though. Are you sure it's not the fan? That likes a good old roar whenever you put your foot down.

Its not the roar that you get from the fan at slower speeds, its more like a loud whistle that only cuts in with the green turbo light when you put your foot down or when the vehicle is under load or going up hill.

Oh. Well mine whistles like an over-enthusiastic kettle too. It sounds like they all do that.

I like that noise. I pretend it means I'm going fast and all the girls are impressed by my sporty car.

Mine also whisltes and it has a wee rattle in it also??

That's why it's referred to as turbo whistle. My eldest lad loves
that whistle. Especially if I kick the turbo in as we go past his friends.

The whislte is, as long as it aint too loud, but the rattle?? I must find the time to investigate this??

What do you class as a rattle. If it was the turbo itself, rotating
at that speed, rattle seems out of place. Are you sure the heat
shields aren't loose?

Yes Matt. I have checked everything around there. I think i may have prop rattle? Only for a second? When i get time i will let you know what it is
