Quick question, again. Ordered the 82 degree stat for a 3L,
KZN130, to replace the 88 degree for the LN130, but there
appears to be a sizable difference between the two. Picked
the 82 up yesterday, and have just compared it to the original
88 I replaced last year, and the flange is slightly wider and the
stat longer. Will it fit in the 2.4 housing, or have I got the wrong
    3L stat?

    Cheers.

As long as it sits in the rim/groove of the housing, then it'll be o.k.
Don't forget the little jiggle valve must be uppermost.

I'll have to check it against the housing, then, (once the engine
cools down). Whilst I'm on this subject, just put the rad flush
through a short while since, and now waiting for it to cool so I
can flush the system. However, can't get to bottom hose due to that
poxy aircon rad, so is there an another way to flush the rad through
without removing the bottom hose or getting into major disassembly?
Or am I going to have to start removing parts? (And if so, which?)

      Cheers.

You only need to remove the bashplate to get to the bottom hose, just 4 bolts.
Or just remove all the air-con gubbins and save a chunk of weight!

Just had another look, Vince. Bash plates already off, but the aircon
rad extends past the bottom of the rad, practically upto the front
mounts for the bash plate. There's no way that I can see off getting
to those jubilee clips. Plus, the wife won't let me remove the aircon.

can you not reach the tap? bottom of the rad, passenger side. you need small hands....
            it's in me shed, mate.

Aye, that I can reach. (That's why I had to take off the bashplate).
Will that be a big enough opening to allow all/any cr*p to come out
of the rad if I get the hosepipe in the top with that open?

Remove the bottom hose where it connects onto the thermostat housing, The large diameter hose just under the rad cap amongst all the other coolant hoses, then you can flush the rad through both ways!

That did the trick. Now just about ready to put the coolant back in.
The thermostat was too big! Did I mistake what TonyN meant
when he said get one for the 3L? Would he have meant something
other than the KZN130? If not, he'll probably be p*ssing himself with
                  laughter when he gets back.

You ever get the feeling your having one of those days?
Popped the coolant in, just started engine to run it through
a bit, and it starts peeing it down. Job stopped till tomorrow,
now. And that wrong thermostat has well miffed me.
With regards to removing the airlocks now, anyone have any
suggestions upon the best method. The method with leaving
the rad cap off and starting the engine, then topping up as it
warms up, only ever gives me coolant slowly rising out of the
filler neck as the engine warms up. That method has never
worked for me yet. So, are there any other methods?

                    Cheers.

That might be where I've been going wrong. Always put the controls
on full heat, but didn't realise having the blowers running made a
                        difference. Cheers Richard.

It won't. All you are doing is blowing air through the core. How the hell can this help remove the air from the cooling system.

                              massage your hoses...

Burping your cooling system, on other vehicles that had trapped air I filled the cooling system until it rad was full ran the engine etc for a few min (still cool) and then squeezed the big fat rubber hoses top of the rad and engine, the logic being the trapped air will collect there, it worked for my old vehicle when i squeezed, air and a bit of water came out but when you released the hose it suck ed the water back , top up your rad again, run the engine a bit and repeat...
