  • Intake manifold gasket

Assuming I'm thinking of the right bit, (where the accelerator cable
and TPS sensor are connected), have got some slight weeping of
what looks like oil around this unit. Is it okay to whip the top off,
clean gasket and reuse with some hermatite red sealant, or is it
better to get a fresh gasket? Plus, are there any bits liable to shoot
out if I whip the top cover off that assembly, or any other points to
    note?

    Cheers.

Nothing much to worry about, thats just accumulated oil vapour from the turbo/intake.
That's why I fitted an oil catch can.

One job saved and another one created. Gonna have to get
round to making a catch can. It's been on my list, (correction, 50
A4 pages booklet), for a while. You know you've got the bug bad
when your going to shops and looking for containers that might
be adaptable. Tried talking the wife into letting me have one of
her miniature ornamental copper pans earlier for this purpose. For
some unknown reason, she said no.

Have a look in Asda. They're selling aluminium drinks bottles, the ones that fit onto mountain bikes, for a couple of quid. Every time we go to Asda, I forget.

Only problem with aluminium is that it won't take solder for connecting
the pipes. Might be worth experimenting with one, though.

This first link below mentions two avenues of escape for the
oily vapour. Is it same with the Surfs, or are we more refined,
(basic), than that? Second link has a straight forward pvc
design. (I personally hate the plastic ones). And the third link
            uses guess what, Vince.
