  • Is this my problem?

Some of you may remember me askin about why my 4WD light doesn't come on a few weeks back, but the 4WD was/is definately working.

Could this be the cause of my problem?

Not the main air intake pipe, the small one that run's underneath it, across the top of the engine block right next to the turbo pipe, and off into the o/s wheel arch somewhere. The bit that run's across the top of the block is metal and where the metal and rubber bit join next to the air intake pipe (where it's arrowed) there's a very small split.

Is there any kind of tape or anything i could use as a temporary repair or to check it? Or if the length is there can i pull it off, cut it back past the split, and reconnect it?

    any help much appreciated

it looks like the same problem i was having a few days ago, its the vac pipe.
try a bit of insulation tape over the hole to stop air getting sucked into the vac pipe. if this works then you can replace the vac pipe with some new stuff later, hope this helps.

If you have the length there chopping a bit of the end shouldnt be to much of a problem as long as it isnt banjo string tight. wouldnt tape or bodge it though the pipe is quite cheap to replace anyway

Ok lengths not quite there, i'll try a temporary bodge just to test it, an if it works i'll go see if i can acquire a bit of hose from the fitters at work.

OK, still no 4wd light, but i have definately got 4wd. So either my bodging skills aren't up to much or this wasn't the cause of my problem.

Will try a more permanent repair tomorrow.

Have continued to trace the vacuum hoses and can't see any other damage, other than on the drivers side of the transfer case, where a hose appears to be being pinched by the clip that holds it together with some wires. Again will try fixing this tomorrow.

One more thing i found whilst rooting about was a disconnected wiring plug under the bonnet. It is a single blue wire with a white plug on the end, the wire appears to run, either into or under, the bottom of the fuse box and the plug was down the side of the drivers side battery between the battery and inner wing. Anyone got any ideas as to what this is and is it supposed to be connected? If so, where?

The only single wire plug I can think of is the air-con compressor.

with the 4wd drive problem, the bulb's ok.

It's an auto; and will only select 4wd when stationary if this gives anyone any clues?
