  • Starting problems??

Recently my Surf's having problems starting.

When trying to start it takes a few attempts and when it fires up it seems lumpy and smokey for a few seconds then it's fine. Had it a run yesterday and it never missed a beat.

Anyone know what this could be?? Mate suggested it could be drawing air somewhere!

    You need new glowplugs.

      Cheers,

Would the plugs stop the lumpiness when first started? It is rough to start with and sometimes konks(technical term) out?? Sorry not very good at describing things.
Oh, how many plugs do i need??
      Thanks.

Yep. The glowplugs warm the fuel for easier/smoother starting.
Try leaving the ignition on for longer, say 15 secs before starting, until you get new plugs.
You need four glowplugs, one for each cylinder.
