  • Airlock Huh...

OK - Suspected airlock due to the temp gauge winging up and down at will with engine fan coming on. No heat through heater when this happens either. So ive got an airlock.

Anyone got a simple method for curing this little gem!

    Any thanks gretaly appreciated....

just to say you will probably have to rev the car - my stat will not open idling.

If you have a seperate fan in the rear don't forget to turn that one on as it hasit has its own pipework and matrix

No need to turn fans on. You only need to open heater valves. You want it to heat up as quickly as posssible so turning on fans only helps to cool things down.

Nice one people - really appreciate the advice - topped it up this morning with heaters open and 8 yr old revving the engine and drove it to work - No temp fluctuating! First time!!! If it was a head prob would the temp gauge still be all over the place regardless of what i did to the rad?

You can tell what im worried about eh!

Don't worry. It looks like you have fixed it. Easy innit?

If the head was gone it would spew the water out of header tank from cold.

I stand corrected, Sir! I guess it depends where the crack in the head is. I have had airlocks a couple of time. Which reminds me ...........I must check the coolant level today.
