flashing o/d light

can any one help? my 2.4 K reg surf has o/d light flashing and goes to failsafe, seems to lose first gear. i have chequed as many connections as i can reach, all seem fine. gear box oil has been changed and filters cleaned.
i have got a flash code 11, but no one local knows what that means.
any idears.

hi ther it probably doesnt help but code 11 is Switch signal, dont know what this means but you could look it up, Nigel
