  • Just changed my glow plugs

Quite a simple, straightforward job, really. It all came apart easily, and it was a good excuse to give everything a good wipe over.

All the nuts came off easily, nothing in any danger of snapping off, which is nice!!

New glow plugs fitted, busbar back on, then the fun began!

That blummin EFI pipe! What a git that was to get on. Ended up standing on my A bar, and using brute force and ignorance to get the bugger back on.. All good fun.

Other pipes etc on, and the moment of truth.. Now the truck was already quite warm, as it had been used just an hour or so before, but it started INSTANTLY!!

I waited till the relay clunked off, turned the key, and it was running straight away.

I guess the real test will be tomorrow morning... Bring it on...........

    It just does, OK?

      Glow plugs

      Hi there,
Recently had a problem fixed by my local mechanic who said at least one of my glow plugs is duff. As you've just done yours, can you advise the best place to source the plugs please? Mechanic is not sure which ones he needs. I know only one has probably had it but I guess it would be best to replace the lot.

      Many thanks

      Gary

P.s. My speedo is playing up too, intermittently working. He's tried cleaning all the connectors but still no joy. Says I might need a new 'attenuator?' that comes out of the gearbox. Is he right and where do I get one?
      Any help appreciated.

Well, I can't comment on it being the BEST place (!) but I just used my local Foreign AutoParts shop. They've been good to me in the past with various other foreign cars, so I just went there on the off chance this morning. And, they had them in stock!!

But, if you need mail order, then Roughtrax sell them. I've been to their premises a few times, and Barry the owner knows his stuff!! Go to http://www.toyotahilux.com/index.php?document=38

        Good luck!!!
