  • knackered ariel

As well as a f*cked turbo, I also have a f*cked ariel, when I turn the car on I can hear it quite loudly grinding as its trying to push up, the same happens when you turn off.
The ariel itself is loose, it moves up and down by hand quite freely, I was just wandering if anyone could give me an idea how to fix or replace

The mast in the shop, is that all id need, the way the thing sounds its the motor that pushes it up and down as well that needs sorting.
Or does that come with the mast?
Does any one know how you go about replacing, sorry I aint got a scooby

To remove the aerial you need to remove the plastic liner in the wheel arch, just a few self tappers. behind there you can get at the plug for the electrics. Then unscrew the chrome ring at the base of the mast on top of the wing, then the whole assembly should drop through.
There maybe another bolt securing it, but I can't remember, and it's dark and raining outside

Oh yeah, sorry, forgot to add that bit.
To replace the mast only, just unscrew the chrome ring/nut on the wing and withdraw the mast by pulling up or rasing it using the power switch or what have you.
To replace with new one insert the mast and draw it in using the power switch in the down direction untill the gears interlock and take the mast in.

if the plastic drive bit in the mast is bust, the motor does make a din...
aslo if its bust you will have to take the mech. apart to get the broken in out. its not to bad a job, as long as you dont d a bit out the mech.....
koi is off some where hot this week so if you do order one off here, it probly wont turn up till next week

To get around the 'twanging' aerial problem, I sold mine and fitted one on the roof.
