  • Phewwwww !

T'was the dreadded M.O.T this morning.................She passed with flying colours. Even the M.O.T testers complemented me on the condition of it
thoughs that put me in a good mood because i have never had a vehicle that passed first time ! So i think an appology is due to my dear partner for putting her through a week of hell and mood swings on the running up to the big day ! LOL.

    Annaliese, IM SORRY

Also, anyone recommend a good thick oil for the Surf ? Since doing an oil change last month, she has developed a tickin noise, but it dont seem to be there all the time. It only seems to be when engine is warm and is comming from around the turbo and oil filter area. The tickin is more louder if you listen through the O/S/F wheel arch area. The sound aint regular ticking, Its kinda like the rhythm of Tick.......................... ..Tick.......Tick............. ...................Tick....... ...........................Tic k.....Tick.Tick............... ...........................Tic k..Tick....................... .................Tick......... .............................. ...................Tick

Also the top seems a little more rattly and all this is since the oil change so i am assuming its the oil.

Oil levels are correct and not over filled, I am currently using Millers 10/40 semi-sinth XFE and an origional Toyota oil filter. Been to four garages including a diesel specialist and they cant pin point the noise. they all said " I WOULDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT" But i once said to a friend " I wouldnt worry about it till your wheel falls off " 3 days later .........The wheel overtook her whilst driving ! LOL . So im kinda getting paranoid now.

    Help Appreciated
!!! I'M THE ONE YOUR MOTHER WARNED YOU ABOUT !!!

only 3 ticking noises I ever heard from a motor were
    1. metal expansion - exhaust etc
    2. the clock in an old roler
    3. one that went BOOM 2 minutes later
Did I mention I have a BLUE one

Remember your engine is around 13 years old. I use a 20W60 oil in mine. There has got to be wear in the engine and my opinion is the oil you are now using is probably great for a new vehicle but not the Surf. I'm sure some will disagree but I've been using this stuff for three years and the engine has never given me a problem.
