crawl under the drivers footwell and you will see the slider mechs behind the dash, see if they move when you press the buttons. they are controlled by motors and mine are stuck so I jammed it into windscreen and not touched it since

Good idea not to force it. I can't supply a pic as mine is still all apart in a thousand pieces. The motor that operates all the vents in this area is behind centre dash. This is connected to all the white plastic levers etc on drivers side of vent system with a cable. Look for the large white plastic lever that is about 8" long and dog leg shaped. The cable is connected to the top of this. There is a loop in cable end that slides over a pin on this lever. Remove the cable by sliding off the pin. This will disengage the motor drive and cable and allow you to move everything manually. Turn on the blower fan and move the lever back and forward till you find the demister position. You may then be able to secure it there somehow with tape or cable ties.

When you remove the cable you will then be able to test the motor drive by pushing the different buttons and see if the cable moves. It should move in and out depending on which position for vents is selected with the buttons. Hope that is of some help.

I had to force mine - could see where I wanted the dogleg to go and it didnt! Forced it and got it to point to windscreen, at least that one is useful.

@TONYN when we do the matrix can we also look at the whole slider thingy too and check it as well as my fan that has a bad connection on number 3 & 4 blower.
