  • water pump?

    Hi
can anyone tell me where the water pump is on a surf 2.4 TD 1990
I seem to have cured most of my problems except the fact that I have to keep topping water up in rad, I replaced rad cap, checked all the hoses, no leaks. even if i drive it about 40 miles there are no leaks showing, I have to top up water about half a pint depending how long a journey,
I have had the head tested it seems ok.
going to get it tested elsewhere and get 2nd opinion.

if it is head gasket, does it pay to get the gasket replaced? or would it pay me to get a reconditioned/new head

    Cheers Shiny

    Have you renewed the thermostsat?
Did you top up the coolant with your heater controls set to hot?

I'd never fit a recon head on a 2.4, or a new standard one, you need a uprated head that doesn't crack after sitting in the sun without sunblock on the bonnet!

Hello Vince Yes I have renewed the thermostat
will top up coolant with heater controls set at hot
there seem to be slight bubbles coming up with rad cap off
when cold there might be an airlock will keep toping up
and get a head gasket test done next week
its annoying as it has overheated a couple of times
due to me forgetting to top up..

Thanks everyone anyother ideas? where id water pump?

        regards Shiny

Click on the link in my post above, it shows you where the water pump is.
The next time the engine is cold, remove rad cap and run the engine untill warm and replace cap. This should get rid of some air bubbles.
