  • Transmission Fluid Leak

    Hi all,

I have a leak on the truck ist deffo transmission fluid, is there any obvious place to start looking - i have heard that there are certain pipes that can erode quite easily - can someine point me in the right direction of these pipes if you know what i'm talking about?

I haven't really had a good luck around it yet - was just wondering if there was a "common" place for transmission leaks

    Thanks

    Joe

Only external pipes go to the cooler in the rad, or the dipstick tubes where they join together.

Otherwise the sump seal could be leaking, or if it dripping out the bellhousing, the input shaft seal.

So is there more than one dipstick for transmission (i think i'm being stupid here) or do yon mean some kind of joint at the botton of the dipstick?

      Cheers Tony

The dipstick goes into the tranny, which has a seal, but also there is a join half way up the dipstick, quite often the bolt gets left out that secures the top half, cos its hard to get to and it comes loose and leaks from there.

Had this ona 3.0 awhile back, i'm assuming the 2.4's are the same.
