auto replacement

hi again, does any body know what symptoms you would get if there was a problem with the auto box on my 2.4td LN130?? Also, is it very expensive for it to be replaced/repaired??? im a little paranoid, due to a car i previously owned and the auto box died!!!

The only problems you would notice really is the transmision 'slipping' or not changing up or down properly.
As long as the transmision fluid is kept at the proper levels, and changed once it starts to turn dark red or brown in colour, it should last the life of the vehicle.
