    Hi

Just done the infamous starter motor replacement, only one cut but a very sore red arm. Was as bad as mentioned on here so had the swear box ready. However whilst replacing it I managed to pull off the fuel hose that comes from the top of the fuel pump, I only noticed after i had turned the Surf around and left a nice diesel slick on the road outside my house. Reffitted hose, washed down the road. Not sure if its related but the Surf is now more gutless than before. Could I have air in system? though thought this unlikley with a modernish fuel system.

    Your thoughts please.

Most likely air in the fuel as it sounds like you pulled off the pipe that comes from the filter, so the filter contents are now over the road and the fuel pump is sucking air .

Its the pipe from elbow on top of pump which goes into the mass of cables and pipes, as you mention in the direction of the filter.

However just taken it for a spin and I have no turbo or turbo light. Could I have pulled something else off causing this? Turbos on the other side of the engine bay.

I put my arm down thru this area from top of engine to support the back of the starter. It was a bit of squeeze hence how the fuel pipe came off.

Just seems a bit of a coincidence that all was well prior to replacing the starter and now no turbo.

Will have a look in the morning to see if I missed reconnecting any cables etc.

      Starter works a treat.

Anyway of physically checking the turbo?

If I do have air in the system would have not bled back to the tank by now.

Is the airflow sensor plugged into the metal elbow on top of the air filter?
Is the plunger on top of the fuel filter hard to push down?
See how it starts in the morning from cold to see if you have any air left in the fuel.

Thanks, right just found air sensor hanging down beside block put that back, no turbo light, it does come on with ignition though. Starts fine.

Have found a pipe that comes from what looks like a relay mounted to the side of the air cleaner housing. the pipe comes from underneath this bit, any ideas where it should go?

Been using the good old search button and found this quote from you.
            .

Try disconnecting your battery/s for about half an hour so the ECU resets itself.
Turbo light is worked by the sensor thats bolted to the side of the air filter box, the hose runs from this, to a clip on the intake elbow, where a little filter is clipped there, then it goes down under the intake elbow and plugs on a fitting in the intake manifold. (quote from TonyN)

Question what/where is the intake elbow?

Is it the bit that the sensor is in?

            Bear with me?

              It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Used the mighty search button and eventually found that someone done the
same as me whilst changing starter.

Hose came off top of plastic valve bit to underside of module on air filter.
