Hi all
I have a few words of wisdom for the spanner wielders out there. This may be obvious stuff, but it wasn't when I did it.
1) Read It: If you bother to download articles like 'How Tos' - read them - ALL OF THE ARTICLE, not just the bits you think you need. I downloaded and used the article on removing the head of a 2.4 for replacement. It is a GOOD article, but I thought I knew it all after getting to the rebuild stage. This cost me about 2 pints of oil, a very messy engine block and driveway, and, most importantly, 10 days without my surf on the road. All because I didn't read the article.
2) Remember: This may seem obvious, but its been a lesson learned the 'Doh!!' way. If you remove major parts for replacement, put the old against the new to see if any old parts need removing to fit to the new. Just a tip, but a goody!
3) Rated: And finally, on the recommendations of other users of this forum, my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Stevo and all at Engine Co Ltd in Stockport. The level of service provided was superb and all the information they imparted to ensure I got the job done ASAP was worthy of a mention. Hats off!!
Hope this helps anyone else who's about to embark on a little DIY.
