Still having problems with surf, it's driving me mad. I seem to have no circulation of coolant, yet every pipe is clean as a whistle- poor water in one end it comes out the other no problem at all. Previously i had the water pump out and inspected it- is there any way it could be in tact but not pump????? This is my next theory! I have changed everything and pressure tested system and there are no leaks.
I am yet to actually drive this thing for more than 10 miles without it cooking on me and i refuse to quit after getting this far.

is the thermostat opening?
might not get flow if that isnt opening -

do heaters get hot in cab?

Thermostat is new and is opening, heaters are hot now and again , mainly when engine is at high revs. There is definately no flow. It keeps boiling locally and blowing water out, i think due to lack of circulation. Can the water pump be in tact but not work??

Maybe the shaft has sheared on the pump, but you said that you inspected it, so maybe air lock or you need a new rad cap?
When the engine is cold, remove the hose from the thermostat housing, bend upwards and see if you can pour any water into the rad, if you can, it may cure the problem if there was an airlock.
