  • MOT - did you know?

Hi, I appreciate a lot of you may already know this, yesterday I was searching for the answers in a hurry but couldn't find them so I thought I would put on here for anyone else in the same boat

The Surf has gone in for an MOT today - as you can imagine yesterday I was getting the foglight back on etc...

1 - The fog light has to be within 18" (inches) of the rear light cluster

2 - ball bearing (don't buy one) or cable tie mod to the ERG will lower emmisions

3 - I always thought that the wheel arches had to stick further out than the Wheel - aparantly not, the wheels can be upto 40mm Wider!

4- For an MOT your Spedo Clock is supposed to be in MPH - I don't think this is a big issue as they passed mine in KPH... they did say that technically it was a fail though!

As I said, Just a few things i didn't know untill yesterday, hope it helps someone out

Could we start a MOT 'sticky' thread like the FAQ'q etc,

    Joe

Your right, it won't fail the MOT, but Mr Plod can still pull you up on the 'construction and use' regulations which as far as I know need the tread of the tyre to be covered.

do a search on here for an egr valve - that'll give you all the ans you need

for emmission's putting veg oil in helps lower them aswell - again do a veg oil search
