  • Starting Problems On 2.4

We have recently had a fuel leak repaired which involved the pump being removed. Since this was done we had problems warm starting, went back to garage where they removed pump and sent to manufacturer for re-calibration, housing replaced, pump returned and re-fitted, all seemed okay for two days. Now problem cold starting, spluttery and black smoking for a short time. Garage does not know what to do next except try ECU to find fault code, anyone know where this can be done or have any ideas on the solution to our problem.

You probably need to replace your glowplugs.

Check glow plug fuse first, can't see it being the wrong refitting of the washer assemblyas you dont really need to remove this.
If they did then it could just be they have put it back together wrong, check it first.
Cold start, black smoke for a while does tend to indicate towards glow plugs, check above first then test the glow plugs.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.
