  • Low Oil Pressure!

    Hi All,

I have owned my Toyota Surf 2.4 for just over a week now, and on the whole very pleased (Fuel consumption& Lack of power 2 minor niggles). NE way I have noticed the oil pressure gauge dosn't rise from the normal idling range, even when gunning the engine. I have checked oil level, and that seems fine. Help needed, don't want to damage the engine, but don't want it sitting lookin' good and not being used.

    Cheers

Have you done an oil and filter change? If not then that's the first thing to do.Then you can do the diffs, gear box, transfer case, cooling system and so on.

I agree wihth Neville, change the filter and oil first as the oil might be old.

Also don't be surprised when you change the oil if the pressure doesn't immediately climb that high, new oil is thinner and while it will flow better it will also have a lower oil pressure than older and thicker oil. However a semi blocked oil filter will give you low oil pressure. Should run about 3/4 on the guage at 3000 rpm and about 1/4 at idle.
