  • Rear Window motor

Hi guys, took the surf down to the Gower this weekend with my daughter to do some (real) surfing, and planning to sleep in the back (one advantage of being a short git). ANyway, bugger me, if the rear window should choose the very day to start playing up. I've read all the other posts, greased all the parts and lubricated the seals etc. What happens now is that when i turn the key, the motor makes the usual sound, but will only get the window up if i physically pull it. As for going down, no chance unless it gets a right old push. Is this the motor? Has anyone got one for sale (cheaper than milners...)?

Give me a call on 07970 063107 if you can help.

(P.S. We still went surfing, was quite nice sleeping with the window down actually!)

I'm pretty sure that aint the motor.

I think it is the 'rails' that clamp onto the bottom of the glass. They corrode pretty badly. I had the same problem.

I'ts pretty easy to take a look, Just pry the carpet off the back of the tailgate (with it open) and remove the metal plate over the hole.

Push in both latches on either end of the tailgate to fool it that it is up with a screwdriver.

Wind the glass out HALF WAY ONLY or it falls on the floor.

Have a look it the rails are either a) blocked up with rust or b0 corroded away.

if not give it a grease while you are there.

also if the window goes in and out ok whewn down it may be you sat to heavily on the tailgate and deforemed it so that the glass doesnt line upo right - but thats another story
