The only things you can do are replace the rad cap & thermostat, when refilling the system make sure all air locks are removed if it is still over heating get a pressure test done to see if the head has gone.

yep sounds like the thermostat... if mine even thinks about getting slightly warm the viscous fan is on.
only need to change the rad if its leaking and losing water.

Viscous fan is on all the time regardless of thermostat, do a search for viscous fan on here and you will find plenty of threads on it to help you understand how it works.

As for the overheating, change rad cap & thermostat, you could try and get the rad flushed out if its blocked. In my opinion if the rads blocked then the temp would rise every time you went up a decent hill or drove over 60mph ish as a blocked rad wouldn't allow sufficient cooling. Change cap & stat double checks for air locks (make sure all heaters are to the hot position) then drive your Surf.
If the heads gonna go its gonna go, theres nothing you can do to stop it happening, its a design fault. If it has gone or goes then fitting a NEW head will give you lots of happy Surfing to come. I know its easy to just type this all down but basically thats the bottom line.
