  • 2.4 Cold starting problems

    Hi guys,

I've been following the other threads about this problem and tried to figure out why my heater plugs aren't working. I recently replaced the engine and ever since its been a bugger to start from cold but always alright after this, and from the sound of things I'm not alone with this problem.

I have checked the 80 amp fuse - its ok
    The relay is clicking.
I have checked the blue insulator - that also is ok

So, I wriggled my hands around the injector pipes, took off the two wires to check - and the lower one (with the smaller hole in) is constantly 12v! Any ideas as to why??

I have checked the buzz bar feed too - that is ground and there's no power going to that.

    Somethings definetly wrong here!

    No-one got ANY ideas?

I guess I'll just tap the darned heap of junk out to the trade then....

Acording to my worshop manual, there is a 'glow plug resistor' have you checked that? it's screwed into the inlet manifold.

Nope! Decided I'd had enough and changed it for a Puma!
