    Jim.

For a first time go, budget about 14 to 20 hours.

There is a write up on one of the links on the technical section.

Tips to make it easier, unbolt the manifolds but don't remove them. The exhaust manifold can be unbolted complete with the Turbo so you don't need to remove that with the associated problems of undoing the oil pipes which are a bu**er. You need to remove all the heat shields, to do this undo the water pipes that run along the side of the head at the front and undo the two bolts which bolt it on the head, then swing them out of the way.

Unbolt the Aircon pump and tie it out of the way (don't undo the pipes).

Unbolt the braket that holds the alternator and aircon pump. By putting two bolts through the adjuster for the aircon belt idler you can use this to hold the crankshaft still when undoing the crankshaft pulley bolt.

To make it easier go and buy a set of ratchet spanners, you can get these from Halfords or Screwfix.

Take lots of photos especially of the vacuum pipes so as you will know how they go back on.

Make sure you have a torque wrench and a long breaker bar for unoing and tightening the head bolts. The bolts can be done using a 14mm star tye (standard) socket, not one of the funky hex sided sockets.

Main advice is to take it easy and don't rush, it's not complicated but it is time consuming and it is relatively simple to forget things as there is som much to undo and then replace.

    Cheers
