Hi

Just registered and had a good browse through the various forums but I can't find any references to my pickup.
The log book says it was registered in 1996.
The local Toyota dealer has records of it, therefore I don't think it's an import.
Now, the engine number is LN85.
I can't find any references anywhere at all to this number?
All sites refer to LN65 or LN105 with nothing in between.

It runs well but after 180k it is starting to rattle a bit and will need some tlc in the not too distant future.

Any info at all would be appreciated.

A quick search on google later..... As far as I can tell LN85 is a 2 Door regular cab, 2WD 2.4D Pick-up made from 1988 to 1999 (seems like a very long production run!) most of which you've already told us in your profile, so sorry, not much to add.

The LN85 part actually refers to the model type rather than the engine specifically. Using Google, you can find plenty of references and a few pics using LN85 as your search term.

As your truck does not appear to be an import, parts should not be a problem, not that they should be any more difficult on an import, just that some dealers have a poor attitude to imports.

Engine Type will be 2L (2.4 normally aspirated) possibly a 2L2.

Rattle may possibly be top end wear, needing the tappet adjustment done, bottom end is generally pretty strong but maybe big ends if it has had a hard life and not too frequent oil changes.
