  • PropShaft CV joint

Hi, have been looking for a 4x4 for agaes and am looking at buying a 2.4 td surf from a friend in a garage who has taken it cheap part ex.

He says that apart from the prop shaft needing a new CV joint..mechanically it's sound.

Not being mechanically minded is this expensive/diffcult to do/ require specialist knowledge etc?

Also can anyone give me details on this or anything else to look for when buying one I would be grateful??

Many thanks and hope to be on here more regularly in the future...

I had a universal joint changed on the rear prop shaft (pretty sure they are the same or very similar). £10 +p&p for the part from Milners and the local garage charged £10 to fit, thats a cheap garage but atleast give you a rough idea. Have a look for any signs of overheating or head problems if it was part ex'ed if its a 2.4 but otherwise go for it they're great vehicles

You on about my ex wife???

Take the rad cap off while the indian is running and if all the water falls out, it needs the head doing.
It may dribble a tad but nothing too exessive.
The cooling system should not be pressurised untill the indian is Hot!
