....but I've had to stop rebuilding my Surf because I don't know which way around the tiny half-moon oilseal at the back of the camshaft fits - should the flange be inside or outside? Inside 'feels' right, but I suspect it's outside as otherwise the face or the half-moon would be very close to the camshaft end.
Also, to fix it in I've got a tube of HYLOMAR UNIVERSAL BLUE Gasket and Jointing compound - the box lists cylinder heads as a usage and temps up to 250C - is this OK to use?
Finally, the workshop manual says to put PACKING around the front and rear upper surface of the head under the camcover rubber gasket(just in the 4 small areas on either side of the camshaft where the ali components meet). The other workshop manual says to use sealant in these areas. Would 4 blobs of this HYLOMAR be OK for this purpose also?
