Radiator oil pipe problem.

Hi guys. I wonder if any of you knowledgeable people can help.. i had a new radiator fitted yesterday and my mechanic split the bottom rubber pipe that feeds the oil. it is now leaking. I dropped it in to him this morning and I've just been down there and he says that in order to access the pipe and replace it, He would need to take out the aircon Radiator which involves regassing.. I am pulling my hair out as I'm leaving the country in a week and trying to sell (in good working order) I asked wether the hose could be cut back and bridged but he said the pressure would be too great. My questions are these:

1. Can the hose be bridged effectively and if so how
2. does anyone know a place to regass these aircon radiators if required near to Watford
3. Anyone want to make me an offer on a ..nearly.. good surf!!!

That'll be the gearbox cooler...

new piece of pipe, some jubilee clips, top up the auto box.

No need to remove the aircon rad... would be easier to remove the rad...

When I changed mine I loosened the fixings for the aircon rad and and gently but firmly tilted the back of the rad up and the front of it down.

So from inside the drives side front wheel arch you can access the solid to rubber pipe join and replace them.

Or you may even be able to get to them via the oil filter access point in the same wheel arch.

My aircon is fine, But you must be carefull not to damage the rad or pipes or yes you will need to regas.

Cheers for the reply Andy, Thats what I thought.. I Recon I need to have a chat with my mechanic. Ive got another hour or so before I need to order parts from Milners for next day delivery.. This has been the most anxious part of my whole emigration process. !!!!!! rediculous.

Hi Guys. just had a phone round re the pipe required and everyones saying no dont stock it.. Does anybody know where I can get a bit of pipe that would do the job????????

I used a 3/8" armoured brake line hose, check out a post from Jotto when he did his additional oil cooler...

Now selling for 2500. anyone interested in a quick sale. I've got to move on. My last day is tomorrow at work and i fly to new zealand on the 2nd so i've no time!! Its still leaking oil. not a lot and is driveable but ive lost confidence in the mechanic as he seemed to think that the split oil line ran to the power steering unit and not the automatic transmission for a start. I'm sure thats not right.. he has said to bring it back tomorrow and he will attempt to bridge the split in the pipe to the bottom of the rad as this is where the oil drip is. Says he doesnt want to just replace the whole hose as he cant see or access where it goes to!!! See why I'm pulling my hair out?? I can get the pipe from Custom Hose and Fittings in Watford so that would seem the ideal solution. anyway I will endevour to get this guy to fix it tomorrow, but if anyone is out there and wants a deal and save me the grief, that would be great!! Its a nice motor otherwise..
