Stripped the Turbo down today Paul, it was full of bits of broken piston and rings stopping the vanes from turning, its freed off OK so should be useable.

Surf repair

I have lent my 1992 2.4 to my mate for a few weeks,he's a good lad.
Just got a phone call from him on the M1 saying he was cruising along at 80 when the engine light came on suddenly and there were plumes of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. He said the turbo light went out immediately.
Got it recovered to services where a mechanic has had a look at it and says the Turbo has blown?
Could this be right and is there anywhere near or in Coventry where i can get it repaired? That's where the car is going tonight.

Help please mates.

Hi, Cant help with repairer in Coventry, however any garage should do, this is phone number for a guy breaking a surf where you should get spares. 07931 272820. P.S. There is a company in Coventry supplying some surf spares.

New engine fully built up and going in tomorrow,then Stevo will need a couple of days to get it road tested and running perfectly so should have her back by early next week.
