  • Urgent help needed! Please

I have lent my 1992 2.4 to my mate for a few weeks,he's a good lad.
Just got a phone call from him on the M1 saying he was cruising along at 80 when the engine light came on suddenly and there were plumes of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. He said the turbo light went out immediately.
Got it recovered to services where a mechanic has had a look at it and says the Turbo has blown?
Could this be right and is there anywhere near or in Coventry where i can get it repaired? That's where the car is going tonight.

    Help please mates.

    Paul.

I need someone to collect it from the Police training school at Ryton in Dunsmore in Coventry and mend it. My mate has just joined the job so the car is safe there for the time being.
Alternatively i might be able to arrange for it to be transported to Stevo wherever he is.

Also see my post about Wolston 4x4 Garage it's only about two miles from the Police Training College at Ryton.

                Good luck!

                  Thanks Neville,very much appreciated mate.

Going to ring them asap as it will be easier for them to deal with it as they are so close.

you could try turbotechnics in northampton for reconditioned turbos or they can rebuild your old turbo depending on the damage
Im not a gynacologist but ill have a look

Just had a call from Stevo,it looks like my so called mate has checked the oil and instead of just topping it up he's massively over filled it causing the head gasket to go.
Stevo took the sump plug out and green coolant drained out before the grey oil.
He says the engine is siezed solid as is the Turbo.

Spent £2500 on it in September and now this..... not looking good.

                          Update*****

Engine has been over filled with oil and over revved. Pistons have smashed and punched holes in cylinder head.Piece of piston has wrecked the turbo.

                          Recon engine being fitted.

Thanks to everyone for their help and advice and special thanks to Marky and Stevo.

                          Paul.

Ensure you tell your mate that the SURF is not a SUBARU IMPREZZA As it sounds like he's give it a good thrashing.

I've taken the car off him mate. He's paying the bill too.

Last time i do him a favour.

Just lucky i've got good advice to draw on on this Forum cos this could have been a total financial nightmare without Stevo.
