On a drive today the engine on my 2.4 surf just stopped and now won't start, I have tried jump starts to no avail. On closer inspection the 100amp Alternater fuse has blown. Any clues as to what is wrong?

Can someone please point me in the general direction of what might be wrong?
It wont start ???
So is it turning over, is diesel getting to the injectors, is the fuse still OK, have you checked for any wires shorting out as said before.Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

When it originally cut out did any warning lights come on, it may be worth doing a diagnostic check to see if any faults are indicated.Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

On a Diesel there are very few things that can actually stop the engine from firing if the fuel is getting to the injectors.
I would suspect that maybe the timing belt has slipped a tooth - not enough to cause the pistons to jam on the valves but enough to upset the timing. That would explain why it just stopped and won't restart.
I would get the timing checked.
An alternative may be a vacuum hose has come off but generally tbhe engine will start with these off even if it runs bad.
Cheers
