  • Aircondition problems and others

    Hi all,

I am having some problems with my aircon, when I turn it on I hear a continuos high pitched squeaking noise which goes away as soon as I turn it off. Sometimes it also makes a loud fan belt kind of noise (as if fan belt is worn out, but its actually a new fan belt.). I also noticed that it loses some power as the aircon comes on as if the aircon is taking a lot of the power. Is there any problem going on like this? The aircon cools fine. I opened the engine cover and noticed that the noise is coming from what I think is the aircon compressor, could it be that it needs some oil or something?

Another problem I have is that when I run the aircon fan inside at low settings, I get this flapping noise from the fan every once in a while but if I run the fan at full setting no noise comes on. anything can be done?

Any way of solving diff lock problems for my 2.4 surf which has none? The other day I was getting stuck in beach sand because two of my tyres on the left were spinning while the other two on the right were stopped and the car was going nowhere, I managed to get out by turning the front wheels.

    Cheers...

    Hi there...

I still get nice cool air when i turn it on but i also have the high pitch wine/hiss in the background???

The noise could be from the aircon compressor bearings and may be shot, im not sure if this is repairable or not - you might need another one.
Do you mean its had a new air con belt or fan belts? The Surf has I think 4? belts on the front and 1 could be adjusted incorrectly.

As to the flapping noise, when it happens do the fans also cut out? Mine has a loose connection which causes the fans to cut in/out very quickly in sucession

      I hope this helps.
