  • need rear shock absorber for SSRX K-reg

Hi, I'm trying to get hold of Rear shock absorber for my K reg 2.4 T. Diesel SSRX Surf Import. It's just failed an MOT on this, and the mechanic working on my Surf has tried to get hold of a shock absorber and the one that was ordered was totally different to mine, it had the eye at top and bottom rather than the rod at top (????I don't know, I just drive it!)he took it back and the place re-ordered another one and it was the wrong one again! The replacements I've seen on websites Explorer(procomp)or Milners, seem to have the eye hole top and bottom as well! I'm baffled! any advice? someone said I would only be able to get them from a breakers!

Try Milners or Roughtrax or LA Supatrux. I've just replaced all four of mine from LA Supatrux, and they were a straight replacement, old ones unbolted, new ones went straight in. You will lose your adjustable supension option.
      Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

Your better of changing both rear shocks together instead of just changing one.!

Yup- a matched pair is best- go to Millners, Roughtrax or L.A. Supertrux to get the right ones.

Thanks everyone for your help! I will pass the info on to the mechanic tomorrow. He has the old shock absorber with him, so can't really describe it very well. I've checked out the shocks on the sites, if they are straight forward to swop over, then I'm quite happy to do that! But for some reason the mechanic insisted that both pairs sent were not suitable because of the eye hole at the top, even tho the suppliers had all the vehicle details!? suppliers insisted they were the right ones until they saw the old shock absorber, and they've tried to find a replacement like it but can't get hold of one.

forgot to say, yeah that'd be great if you can get a pic of the shocks you have, can see if they are the same as mine.
                Cheers!

These are the original adjustable shocks.

Hi, thanks everyone for your replies! Just to say that the mechanic came round saturday morning and had managed to get hold of a replacement shock. Not new, but seems ok! It's been fitted so the surf is booked in for it's re-test monday. Fingers crossed or else I will still be looking for a replacement. Mine is the original type like in the photo, but everytime we tried to order new, they kept sending us the type with two eyeholes!
