well this could be the last straw for me and surfing, some of you know i put the truck in to have the head done a month back i finaly got it back after russel (S.E.M) kindly put it back together after the idiot that had it took three weeks to supposedly change a head for me, i had the motor for two days when she boiled up again, being close to crimbo no one could do the motor for me so it sat on my nans drive until yesterday when a guy came and picked it up to sort out what needed to be done, i have had a phone call from him today to tell me that not only does it look like the head hasnt been changed he says the liners in the bores are shot aswell coz of the over heating. is this right that the surfs have liners in the bores as i know some motors do? and is about a gran a good price to pay to get the work done?

n.b i WILL be reclaiming my money from the idiot that said he had put a brand new head on my truck

      liners

Sorry to contradict chaps, but the surf block is a cast parent bore block with no liners fitted from new, cyl block needs to be bored out and liners press fitted if required.
Mark what are you getting for a grand ? seems a bit cheap to fit a new head and fit liners to the block.
      Cheers Steve.

        Hmmm.Thats interesting.

Quote from someone on the Aussie site -
        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the toyota motor is dry sleeved from new they were designed this way to make bores replacable unfortunately it is a specialist job to fit them as the heat shrinking method used to fit the is beyond most people
        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and a link with info on liners.

Think there must be a difference in some engines then cos mine is definately a cast block with no sleeves as Stevo says.

          Cheers
