Help please started my 2.4 Diesel Surf today ( its been standing out the front for 5 days) and coolant is pumping out of the overflow
had a look in the header bottle and it was under pressure coolant spurted out as I took the cap off and the coolant had a froth on top
using it daily with no signs of probs before this
    any clues please
    cheers

Don't want to bring bad news but mine had the same syptoms, high pressure on top hose, eventually dumping into the overflow tank, frothy bubbles, etc. Have struggled for weeks with thermostat change out, new pressure cap, water pump, cooling system blockages and air bubbles, radiator, etc. Exhausted all avenues and have finally accepted its probably a hairline head crack that pressures the system but doesn't actually overheat until you just sit there idling for a while.

Feel the top hose from Rad for pressure, if its well pumped up its more than likely overpressurised, hence the rad cap passes back to the overflow. Get a presure test done as soon as. I've heard other members have driven about with cracked heads for up to 2 months with no mechanical damage before sorting out the problem (changing head).

Any other symptoms...difficult starting- maybe on 3 cylinders, water in oil or vice versa, white smoke out the exhaust???

Thanks for the quick response with the info could be you've saved me wasting time and a lot of head scratching!
White smoke, reluctant to start when cold (takes a couple of attempts)
not noticed water in the oil so far
thinking about it been reluctant to start for 2-3 months now but put that down to cold/damp weather
anything else I should be looking for (what other mechanical damage is likely)
this is not going to be cheap is it?! how much do you think this is going to cost to fix
      cheers
