evening all,
battled with the various things in the engine bay all day, and at last removed the camcover to get at the head bolts.
However, I was expecting the head to be ali, but it's cast iron (rusty, doesn't scratch and magnetic).
So - question 1 - Is this normal? The engine has valve lifters (buckets and shim) not rockers so from what I can make out in the Haynes manuals appears to be a later 2L (it's an H reg Surf 2.4 TD auto).
And question 2 - what socket do I need to remove the head bolts - they are sort of an inverted Torx (star) shape.
thanks
James
