help please batteries

hi ive had a cambelt snapp again the heads off eight valves guides buckets later put all back together and turned the key and CLICK the batteries seem to be flat the dash lights dim. now can any one please tell me if you can jump them would you. 1 postive on the right battery and negative on the left or just charge them 1 at a time thanks inadvance and merry christmas

positive to positive and vicy vercy with the -itives, also you can charge via the fag lighter if you can wait if you`ve got one of them little gizzmo`s if the battery is a modern one it may need purging check for that.

thanks but wat i mean when jump starting do you jump postive on the 1st battery ie the right and 2nd negative or just conect both to the right battery

1 Battery. Positive to POSITIVE terminal. Negative to EARTH

i know what you mean. it doesn't matter if you jump one battery or both. BTW usually only one battery is duff, it'll pull the other down giving you two flat batteries, i bought 2 new batteries (they are left and right handed i.e. the pos/neg terminals are opposite to each other) for £70.
