Just wandering about this timing belt light does it stay on when it needs changing, whilst driving or when you turn the ignition on ? My light comes on only when i turn the ignition on

It should only come on with the ignition and then go out when the engine starts. If it stays on it means that the timing belt needs changing - however it is not a very clever device, it just comes on every 100K kms and needs to be reset when the belt is changed. Small button in the dash covered by a rubber bung on the 2nd gens and a screw on the rear of the instrument cluster on the 3rd gens - the instrument cluster needs to come out on these to rest it.

thanks for that, I've got a sticker saying it was done at 100,000kms - but i suppose they can be transferable
