Hi I have just become the proud owner of a 1989 surf 2.4 TD could anybody answer:-
    1. My oil pressure gauge never moves from the quarther mark is this normal?
    2. On the rev counter i have 2 lights a red and a green one the red occasional comes on and stays on, then the next day does not come on at all, is this normal? the green one seems to be linked to the turbo.
    3. it is fitted with a UK radio but the rear speakers don`t work is this a easy fix, I am mildly competant with electrics.
4.There seems a lot of manuals on cd for sale on ebay are they any good?

Thanks to any one who responds

    Hi Chris
    Welcome to the madhouse.
    1. The oil pressure gauge on mine usually reads about 1/3-1/2 when engine is cold but once warm it generally sits around the 1/4 mark
    2. The green light lets you know that the turbo is producing enough boost, the red light is a warning light, you may have an intermittent problem with the management system, sory but cant help any more with that one.
3.My surf doesnt have rear speakers fitted even though there are grills in the rear panels, you may not have any either, a good stereo shop should be able to supply some to fit.
    4. never looked at the manuals so dont know????

    Hope some of that helps.

      See attached for oil pressure
Manuals like Haynes for 4runner/pick up or max ellery will cover the basics of the Surf, enough to get you by, the rest just ask or search on here.
As far as I know, speakers were standard in the rear, may be disconnected from the head unit or behind the rear panels.
