  • Poor Starting after a few days rest !

    Hi All,

Just a quick one - if you will pardon the expression !!

The Surf normally starts with half a turn of the key - but after leaving her on the drive for a couple of days takes a little longer ?

Seems like the fuel is draining back from the pump over time - no leaks visible - once started shes fine again - just seems like if its left it has to drag the fuel up again -any clues as to what to check for would be greatly appreciated !

    Cheers,

    Kim

Would check all pipes around filter etc, leak not always present but it could be sucking a bit of air in. Has it had a new fuel filter?, when it does start do you get a bit of black smoke from the exhaust
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

Yes it has had a new fuel filter by the garage I bought it from - can't say I've noticed any black smoke on start-up !

Have you tried pumping the primer on the top of the fuel filter before starting? There may be a little air lock left after the filter was changed.
        It's only a hobby!

Have you checked the Battery/Batteries? I know it sounds a bit off the track that your thinking along, but I've seen quite a few instances where people thought it was the fuel pump, or starter, and it turns out to be old batteries and the cold weather just puts the seal on them.

          Just a suggestion.
