Yes I do mean the fuel cut off switch.

I am getting in touch with diesel pump reconditioner tomorrow to see if they can sort it our.

Any more ideas?

Which pump is it

There are two ways that these sol's work 1 by positive charge & 2 with negative charge.
After that pig trof info from the dealers I would suggest investigate first.
Try disconecting first "pull the wire off" if it still doesn't start try putting a charge to the terminal "for flash testing 12volt charge is fine" this should be done with the ignition on.
They do go but by what you have said I would start from the tank and check the lines, change filter & bleed it up.
The quickest way to tell is to gravity feed the pump straight from the tank if it starts and runs leave the pump alone.
If you can find an old style garage there will be someone in there that will be able to do tis for you.

Does your Surf run for a while and then cut out, or will it not start in the first place ?
