Not strictly true, common rail diesels and some pumps don't like it. But nothing after 1998 is not a rule.

You can make and use as much as you want, but only 2,500 can be used without registering as a producer and paying tax.

Just keep a spare and change it when you notice the truck being sluggish.

Millers Oil comes in a 500ml squeezy bottle (with measuring scale) I paid £9.99p (Treats 10 x 50 litre tanks) being as I store in 20 litre containers after refinery I add just shy of the 1/2 measure scale on the bottle
Hope that helps Andy ... Courtesy of Bushwhacker ..

i have been using the older "Diesel Power Sport 4". it has it own measuring on the side so i put 1/2 a shot in each 20l bottle of veg, shake and put in tank.
Show me where the trench is at or can i make one!

Total mileage on the vehicle: just under 100,000 miles

Other modifications you have had done to the fuel system and approximate cost?

None - but considering fuel heater before next winter. Cold start ups tend to be a bit "lumpy" and under powered, although it has been like that since the new head was fitted anyway so is probably just coincidence.

                          Mixture/s you use

No set mixtures used as yet - began experimenting with 10% veg, then 20%, etc. Was running on pretty much 100% veg now the weather has got a bit warmer. Will report back once I've settled on what seems to work best.

How long you have been using veg for?

Not long - only been experimenting for a month or two.

                          Approximate mileage done on diesel:

A few thousand (less than 5000)

                          Approximate mileage done on veg/mix:

A few hundred (less than 1000 so far)

Is the engine still running fine?

                          Yes.

Any problems so far experienced that you think are due to veg usage (any approximate costs would be good here as well as any fixes)

Fuel filter was changed this morning because it was clogged with sludge - probably the fuel system cleaning out with the veg oil. Also, was running on small amounts in the tank which won't have helped. AND I'm guessing its possible that no-one had really thought about changing the fuel filter since import to the UK (several years!) cos there was a load of Japanese writing on the old fuel filter and only English writing on the new one...

If you are using your own collected waste veg, how do you prepare it for use?

N/A - I'm thinking of setting up some sort of system to re-cycle WVO but not sorted it yet.

                          Any other notes/ tips etc.

Do your research - there is loads of info around if you look. Don't be scared to do it!

After trying various bits n bobs at lower levels and looking around, taking advice, etc, I have put my first tank full in in readiness for a long run visiting the in laws for the weekend - heading down tomorrow morning.

95% SVO, 5% petrol, fresh fuel filter (see above post).

Will update with how it runs once I get back next week.

If you are using your own collected waste veg, how do you prepare it for use?

am planning to filter it by a gravity based home built 3 stage filtration system, the oil will pass thru a water separation filter then through a pair of tights, second filter will be a 20 micron filter and last final filter will be a 5micron of a peice of muslin material. Then i will leave oil to stand for a week or 2 and then put into my truck.

                                Any other notes/ tips etc.

Only been doing it for 3 days and have no noticable problems, infact I actually think it has improved acceleration, and has made the engine run better. Going to increase the percentage upto about 80% SVO but am going to increase it week by week, so next week i will try 40% and then 50% and so on untill i reach 80% or untill it starts to run lumpy. Once I have reached 60% I shall dilute the mix with 10% of white spirit to help reduce the viscosity of the SVO.
                                Keep On Truckin!
