Good evening to you all. I'm Mark, a 54 year old ex-mechanic looking to buy a 3.0L Surf over 20 years old so I can insure it as a second vehicle on classic insurance (I have a company van and family car). I'm on the Fylde Coast near Blackpool.
What common fault do I need to look for on these? I've heard a rumour of failing fuel pumps on 3.0L engines. Is this true? What would I need to look out for on these cars? Are there particular areas prone to rot? Has anyone got a cheap one for sale?

Rust is killing me at the moment rear shockers rotted through the Mount's bottom of the doors , arches under the arch extentions, frame ,going to spend a few weeks underneath sorting, head went on mine never over heated just went one morning, replaced whole cooling system ,reconditioned the injectors noproblems with the fuel pump though
