  • Lights Flickering/Speedo Out

    Hi All,

I have a LN130 1994 manual SSRX Hilux Surf, and have been chasing down some electrical issues for some time now.

    1. My Speedometer runs 60% quicker (will display 80kmph when im travelling 50kmph) during the first 20 or 30 minutes of a drive, where it will suddenly switch back to the correct speed. Once the car is turned off it will revert to the 60% quicker reading. The previous owner installed an aftermarket cruise control system that never worked, and after removing it the problem still persisted.

    2. My dash lights (all warning/turbo/handbrake) will flicker on intermittently while driving, this is noticeably worse when putting the clutch in, but will still occur when turning corners ect. The previous owner said this started when the local workshop replaced his clutch, and the workshop said it was likely an earth ground or something they forgot to put on, but did not want to repair it so they paid him partial costs back.

Any help or insight into either of these issues would be most appreciated,

    Cheers,

    Cooper

Speedo sensor is on side of gearbox. Check it. Dash lights may be alternator needs work. Use a multimeter to check voltage output at the battery at idle and at higher revs.
