We have a 1989 Manual Surf (LN130G-GKMOX).
The diesel pump and injectors were leaking, so we decided to carry out a full engine rebuild whilst addressing this issue.
Alongside the engine rebuild we had new injectors and the diesel pump and turbo reconditioned.
It is now very hard to start, and when started ticks over at 90%. The revs then rise as it gets hotter and it will not calm down. If manually revved it also takes ages to come back to idle.
It makes no difference which way the pump is turned for minor adjustment.
The pump rebuilders are confident it is not their work, but are happy to look at it again, but that requires removing and sending away again.
Is there anything else that could cause this happen other than the pump? The vacuum pipes have also been renewed.
