Hi,
I have a 1996 3.0 surf which has developed a strange issue. Sometimes after being parked, the rear drivers side wheel locks up when trying to reverse. If you go forward slightly, then reverse again, it gradually eases up and then seems fine.
I've had all the braking system checked, including the handbrake mechanism and cable. It has not helped. It is not the brakes, as it can rock back before it locks and roll forward when put in drive.
It was suggested it could be a damaged spline on a half shaft. I suspect the diff.
So the question is, how do I find it (it is intermittent) and if it is the diff, is it easy to get one. Its an auto box, so will a non-Surf Hilux of the same year share a diff?
Thanks
Gus
