Thermostat housing gasket?

Hey so I just picked up a 1990 2.4 turbo surf last week and I'm finally getting a chance to go over it. Soooo many questions! But first off the thermo housing has a self gasket thing on it from a previous owner. Does it even need a gasket? I was under the impression that the gasket on the thermostat was enough? The housing is also missing one of the three bolts if anyone knows the size I need.

As far as I know it does have a gasket. Well mine is the 3.0 and I'm pretty sure that had a gasket when I did the head rebuild.

I would have a look on Rough Trax, Milners Off Road, or KS International
