But that's not the English flag.

Have just discovered what I'll be enntitled to if made redundant (there's something to look forward to this week), seems I'd have been better off spending money on taxable stuff rather than trying to save up a few pennies in case I need them.

It doesn't matter how you try to help yourself, the UK government will bring you down to the level it wants before you can have anything (that I've already paid for, by the way).

PS: For those that don't know, the endowment part of an endowment mortgage doesn't qualify as mortgage costs, it counts as "savings"! Try telling the mortgage company that you can't afford to "save" with them.
