  • Battery help

Hiya , I'm looking for a new battery. I fancy something like an Optima or an Exide Maxxima.
I'm having trouble finding a local supplier ( NE England )
Does anybody have a link to their UK sites....hopefully with a list of UK stockists.

    Thanks

We have an outfit down here called Batteries Direct. I tried a search but only turned up a supplier of traction batteries for golf buggies and invalid scooters.
    It's only a hobby!

Not sure about local dealers but manufacturers sites are http://www.optimabatteries.se/contac...butor_locator/ and http://global.exide.com/exideGlobalW...n_maxxima_page

Cheers Roger , used those 2 links & managed to find some UK distributor numbers .

A bit of phone work this morning got me a local dealer who can order within 3 days.
Thing is after talking to him I'm beginning to wonder if they're worth the money.
There's no doubt they are brilliant batteries 900 cca for the maxxima & 1050 cca for the red optima.....but only a 2 year warranty for £130 - £140
Less than half that will buy a Bosch with a 3 year warranty or a new calcium battery with a 4 year warranty.
        What does anyone think ??

Hi Geof, I replaced mine with batteries from the local motor factors, £45 each. I think if I only had one battery on the truck, I would buy a top quality one, but with 2 batteries, I dont see the point in forking out that much dosh when our winters are not extreme.

ps, I've not been on the site for ages (house renovating, and the kids have taken over the pc) good to see all the regulars still here!!!

Hiya Pete, Yep unfortunately my surf seems to be one of the few that only has a single battery.
I was interested to read on the FAQ that the surf requires approx 700 cca , as some of the batteries I've been offered would struggle with that requirement.
For some reason Bosch are one of the only companies that don't see fit to provide that info.

Local car shop - £60 for the single battery.
