2nd key !!!!!

I was just wondering were would be the best place to get a 2nd key cut for my surf ?????.Local key cutter or a toyota garage main dealer ????. Because i only got 1 key given to me when i bought it !!!.

I had problems with snapping keys for my van and found a local key bloke (he does markets etc) who was half the price of FIAT. He ended up getting a key code and sending off for them and it still only came to £45 the pair and that was for chipped and programmed keys.

Dread to think what Toyota would charge but get it done now before you loose or break your key...

I had 2 keys cut at a local key cutters place for £4.00, works well.

Hmmm, I'm gonna have to have a hunt around then. I have the same problem having just one key, but my local "Key Wrangler" said he didn't have the relevant blanks to do the job.

I did see some genuine Toyota Blanks on Ebay a while back...might have a dig around.....

Dunno about after 96, but you can definatly get 2nd Gen keys cut locally.

I had a problem with my key not opening the rear window, so I went to my local locksmith and he had a look on his computer and informed me my key was cut on the wrong blank.

He then worked out the key code and sorted out the Key number for future reference for me.

I walked out of there and with two keys, a rear window that opened on the key, a big grin on my face, and ONLY £14.00 lighter. That to me was good service.

Ohh and Toyota told me I would have to have a new tailgate lock, and I would not be able to get a key.

Rob have you tried WOT LOCKS in Walton they used to be very good when I worked in Walton (I assume they are still going)

My god, my local 'smith has a shop that reminds me of something out of a Monty Python film!! He doesn't even have an electronic till!

Might pop over to Walton and see what they say actually...'tis only down the road.
